Domaine Solence is a 14 hectare husband and wife run winery located in
Carpentas (Vaucluse) Anne-Marie grew up not too far from the Vauclus
(Aveyron) and study agronomy and met Jean Luc a young study of
oenology. Their freshly printed diplomas in hand, the two started the
domaine in 1990 and since 1992 the winery has been certified organic.
Anne Marie greets customers at the winery, does all the administrative
work, takes people on tours of the winery, and of course when needed
helps in the vineyards. Jen Luc is in the winery and in the vineyards. The
small team of two gets a little bigger every year when seasonal workers
help with the harvest.
The 14 hectares of the estate today are spread over a terroir with two very
distinct geological identities. The first, is composed of alluvial soils,
calcareous, very porous this is where the syrah, grenache and even
marselan (cross of Cab sauv and Grenache) flourish. The other part is
marked by shallow clay loam soils, which are also colder. Rich in
minerality this terroir is favorable to whites and roses.
