Domaine Roche-Audran, Rhone

Chateauneuf du Pape

Techsheet: you can print this tech sheet directly from your browser.

Vincent Rochette and his family have been ‘caretakers’ of the Roche Audran estate for 5 generations. The entire property is 30 hectares. The new cellar was built in 1998 when they started to bottle commercially. Prior to that they sold their grapes to some of the top producers in the area.
In 2006 they switched to biodynamic methods and are now Demeter certified.

This wine comes from a very small parcel of old vines with very low yields. To be more specific, the Chateauneuf-du-Pape parcel is only 0.3 hectares, and is over 60 years old, the yield is less than 30HL/H. This vineyard sits right next to the famous Chateau Rayas estate.

This certified bio-dynamic estate does all the harvesting, racking and bottling according to the cosmic rhythms in order to produce a wine that is as natural as possible. No chemical additives of any kind are used at all. Only and with extreme moderation, is sulphur used. Indigenous yeast help to bring out all the aromas of the terroir during alcoholic fermentation.

100% Grenache

Wine is aged 12 months in demi-muids (oak barrel very common in the Rhone that can hold 600 liters of wine)

The wine shows an intense and vibrant cherry black color. A sharp and voluptuous nose of redcurrant, raspberry and cherry. Full-bodied, and elegant on the pallet.
