Barbera d'Alba Superiore 'Carulot' DOC
. . . . . . . . . . . . >The "Carulot' Barbera d'Alba Superiore takes its name from a beloved aunt who left the vineyard to the family. The vineyard is 50 years old and the grapes produced though tiny produce a very concentrated wine. The vineyard is located near the family cellar in Neive with a SW exposure. The soil is mostly clay with a bit of limestone. The winemaking starts with a soft crushing and a 15 day maceration with regular pump overs. The wine is then aged in large barrels for 18 months and then spends a minimum of 12 months in bottle. Fragrant notes of plum, blackberries and cherry. It is full bodied and well structured but finishes with bright acidity.
